The International Bunch demonstrates further growth as it makes two senior hires

Updated: Nov 25, 2021

Swansea, UK, 10th February 2020: Strategic marketing consultancy, The International Bunch, hires Megan Taylor as Head of Content, and Rory ffoulkes as Head of Social Media and Comms.

The International Bunch provides advisory, marketing and progressive thinking services to the academic and scholarly community.

The consultancy believes in a community-driven approach that supports its ethos and mission to improve marketing efficiencies across the industry.

Megan Taylor, previously Press and Marketing Manager for the University of Huddersfield Press, has built up considerable experience single-handedly running an open access press and creating impactful content for the academic publishing community, as a publisher and a marketer.

Rory ffoulkes is a former Content, Social Media and PR Manager for Emerald Publishing, and returns to the academic publishing sector after gaining valuable exposure to a wide range of industries as a copywriting and social media consultant.

Lou Peck, Managing Director and Founder of The International Bunch, said:

The past few years have felt like a whirlwind, from setting up as a consultant to then expanding into a dedicated consultancy for the academic and scholarly marketing community.
“In the last year, we have seen a phenomenal 250% growth in our client base and 90% of our business comes from word of mouth and repeat business. Though we have an extensive pool of freelancers to help with specific client needs, I felt it was time to evolve the in-house team.
“Megan and Rory will not only bring further capacity to help us meet increasing demand but also creativity, experience and know-how that will allow us to continue to deliver outstanding services for our growing list of clients. We’d like to say a huge thank you to our amazing clients for making this possible.”

Some of the most thought-provoking work The International Bunch has already undertaken within the last year to facilitate best practice include (but are not limited to):

  • second edition of The Life You Can Save book by Peter Singer - free to download

  • academic marketing publishers structures, trends and lessons learnt research

  • open access book production best practice for a university press research

  • university library team strategy to demonstrate impact within their institution

  • acting as a sounding board for senior marketing leads

  • supporting senior marketing team meetings to steer focus and improve productivity

  • agile marketing adoption with Scrum team management

  • thought leadership content generation in the form of blog posts, reports, interviews, videos, case studies and press releases.
