Paper Weight for Printing​

​

To help guide you when you're looking what to print your collateral as we've pulled together a helpful list below:

​

  • Paper Weight is measured in grams per square meter (gsm)

    • 75-100gsm* - standard office printer/photocopier paper

    • 120gsm - letterheads

    • 130gsm - used for mass-produced promotional material like direct mail - good for two-sided printed - any less than 130 gsm, you will see through to the print on the other side

    • 150-200gsm - flyers and brochures and need to be scored if folded

    • 250 gsm - brochure covers, posters, cards, and booklets - scoring required for folding

    • 300 gsm - greeting cards and business cards

​Paper Folding

A guide to standard document folds: half fold, roll fold, z fold, and double parallel fold

The standard document folds include:​

  • Half Fold (2DL-DL*)

  • Half Fold (A4-A5, A3-A4)

  • Roll Fold (A4-DL)

  • Roll Fold (6pp-A4)

  • Z Fold (A4-DL)​

  • Z Fold (4DL-DL)

  • Double Parallel Fold (4DL-DL).

Paper Sizes

The ISO 216 standard defines the A-series paper size as:

  • 4A0 – 1682 × 2378 mm

  • 2A0 – 1189 × 1682 mm

  • A0 – 841 × 1189 mm

  • A1 – 594 × 841 mm

  • A2 – 420 × 594 mm

  • A3 – 297 × 420 mm

  • A4 – 210 × 297 mm

  • A5 – 148 × 210 mm

  • A6 – 105 × 148 mm

  • A7 – 74 × 105 mm

  • A8 – 52 × 74 mm

  • A9 – 37 × 52 mm

  • A10 – 26 × 37 mm
